The Commission was established in March 2021 and is playing a key role in bringing together stakeholders from a range of different sectors across the Borough to share learning and promote best practice.
Each Commission has a different focus such as energy, transport, and housing. Recent Commission events have focused on Net Zero projects for businesses and grant funding opportunities for voluntary and community groups. Check the News area of our website for future events.
Building on the success of the Climate Commission we have worked with the St Helens Youth Cabinet and Vibe to appoint an Environment Representative who will support us with future events, including our annual Youth Commission Event.
The Youth Commission event will take place on July 14th, 2025. Schools from across the Borough will be invited to nominate representatives to attend the event and discuss key environmental issues affecting young people in St Helens. We are collaborating with Youth Cabinet and departments across the Council to ensure this event links with Priority 6 of the Council's Youth Declaration: 'Look after our environment and climate and ensure our Borough is clean and tidy'.
Please contact us via email at netzero@sthelens.gov.uk if you are interested in getting involved in any of our future Commission events.
